Provide Advanced First Aid
Our Advanced First Aid course is designed for those working in nominated occupational first aider roles, or for those who are interested in such roles. This nationally accredited course is delivered in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, relevant state and territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority requirements, and the first aid code of practice.
The course provides participants with practical, simulated real-life situations to learn and gain confidence in managing challenging situations, such as multiple casualty incidents, extricating casualties, and treating potentially fatal illnesses and injuries. It is essential to receive proper training to know how to handle high-risk situations in a real-life incident.
Participants will learn how to coordinate and manage a response, provide advanced first aid, and adhere to legal, community, and workplace considerations in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other peak clinical bodies until emergency services arrive. The course also covers basic first aid and CPR, treating advanced conditions such as hypothermia or hyperthermia, head, neck, and spinal injuries, using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding, and managing a casualty in shock.
In addition, the course covers recording the casualty’s condition, completing workplace incident documentation, and debriefing to recognise areas for improvement, psychological impacts, and seeking help as required. Our advanced first aid course will help you to develop and maintain first aid action plans, undertake a risk assessment, and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in a workplace environment. You will also learn to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and complete documentation, including checklists for stocking and maintaining equipment such as resuscitation, oxygen, and first aid kits.
