Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy

Our Advanced Resuscitation course adheres to the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and first aid code of practice. It’s designed for individuals who may need to provide first aid, CPR, and oxygen in complex situations in community or workplace settings.

Throughout the course, you’ll be trained using simulated real-life scenarios, giving you practical experience using and maintaining specialised equipment for providing first aid, resuscitation, and oxygen therapy. You’ll learn how to insert an appropriate basic airway adjunct, use tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding, and administer oxygen safely at the correct flow rate, among other advanced treatments.

The course also includes instruction on first aid and CPR and guidance on recording casualty conditions, conveying incident details, completing workplace incident documentation, conducting debriefs to recognise areas for improvement and psychological impacts and seeking help as required. HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy

HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Important information prior to enrolment

Online with an in-person face to face assessment at the location specified at the time of the booking or in the workplace in a suitable training area.

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform practical demonstrations such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

This course has a pre-requisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid which much is completed prior to undertaking this unit of competency.

Face to Face – 6 hours (minimum) full face to face course

Online delivery with face to face 3.5 hours (minimum duration)

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the following sections.

It is recommended that renewal for this course is undertaken every 12 months.

Payment Terms – Payment for individual participants is upfront, and group booking payment terms are based on an agreement between the client and service provider.

No work placement will be required as part of this course.

What happens at the course?

Delivery of course information and learning activities.

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of bag-valve-masks, oxygen equipment, an AED and placing the casualty into the recovery position)

Perform CPR on an infant.

Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed and provide oxygen.

Complete an incident report.

Maintain resuscitation equipment.

Theory assessment:

A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
